Quidditch Day Arrives! November 2024
Well our Quidditch Tournament has come to an end...
Yesterday morning, we all gathered in the hall to find out which Hogwarts houses Earth, Fire, Air and Water would be assigned. A Year 6 house captain representing each house had the famous sorting hat placed on their head to determine this. They were assigned as follows:
Water - Ravenclaw
Fire - Gryffindor
Earth - Slytherin
Air - Hufflepuff
Over the course of the past two days, each class has played in the tournament, earning points for their houses. Points have also been rewarded by class teachers in the classroom too.
In our assembly this afternoon, the winning Hogwarts house was revealed.... RAVENCLAW! The house captain received the Quidditch cup on behalf of Ravenclaw, who earnt 2,720 points!
The best players from the tournament were awarded with certificates.
Congratulations to all players and all four house teams!
We hope that everyone enjoyed our inter-house Quidditch Tournament.

We have made a start on our Make do and Mend topic.
So far we have practised running stitch and whip stitch - we are about to try blanket stitch...We have started pinning out our material with our pattern ready to create our pin cushion, mini pencil case or bookmark. We are doing so with varying success....

Remembrance Day
We have taken part and held many commemoration ceremonies across our Hednesford Hill's Federation and wider community. Please see the articles and images below held over the last week , including our World War 1 Remembrance Dedication from Trinity Methodist Church in our office/reception area.
The whole school took part in a remembrance service joined by veterans and children from Hednesford Nursery School.
Eight of our Year 6 children (who have been using the ancestry website in their history lessons to research the lives of several local men who went to the front during the First World War) attended The Parish of Hednesford Remembrance Service on Sunday 10th November as representatives of West Hill. They were superb role models: they arrived smartly dressed brandishing their poppies, and were very polite and respectful throughout the service. Together they laid a wreath at the memorial site on behalf of our school.
It was lovely to see so many West Hill pupils at the service, either in their roles as a Scout, Brownie, Rainbow, Cub or Squirrel, but also those attending with parents and family.
Year 6 Football Team
A huge well done to our Year 6 footballers ⚽️ who have competed in several matches during November so far…
The scores were as follows:
West Hill 3 Hazel Slade 0
West Hill 1 St Peter’s 0
West Hill 2 Poppyfields 0
We are so proud of the teamwork that they have shown in all three matches that they have played so far and their great sportsmanship, always ensuring they shake the hands of their opposition once that final whistle has blown.
Keep it up Team West Hill! 🥳
