Wellbeing
Here at West Hill, we follow the ‘THRIVE’ model when it comes to pupil mental health and well-being. A positive mental health curriculum, covering social and emotional well-being, is delivered through our PSHE and RSE lessons. The climate of our classrooms respects all and we encourage our pupils to express their feelings and emotions, and to learn to self-regulate.
Within our school, we provide further social and emotional support to our pupils through a variety of initiatives. These include ELSA and lunchtime nurture groups.
In addition, we work alongside outside social and emotional support providers, such as: The South Staffordshire Mental Health Support Team and Windmills, providing additional support to our pupils and parents/carers.
Well-Being Champs
West Hill Well-being Champs can be identified by their bronze star badges.
The role of a well-being champ is to offer friendship and emotional support during lunchtime and breaktimes. They are a friendly face for those who need it!
Our well-being champs are given training opportunities to deliver this peer-to-peer support as part of our whole school approach to positive mental well-being.
Our Well-Being Champs are chosen in September of each new school year from our current Year 6 group. These children have now been chosen and are supporting other pupils. Thank you - you are champions!
