World Book Day Is Nearly Here!
West Hill will be celebrating World Book Day and our love of reading on Thursday 6th March - that's only next week!
Now is the time to think about your favourite book and characters in it.
You are invited to come to school on the 6th dressed as your favourite character...even better if you have the actual book with you too. Be prepared to talk to your class about the book, who wrote it, why you love it and who you have dressed as. Prize for the pupil in each class who can tell their friends most about their book.
Maybe you don't want to dress up? Just wear your normal school uniform to school.
You could even enter the POTATO CHARACTER competition. Design a potato to look like a favourite book character, bring it to your classroom on Thursday 6th, along with £1 and have the chance to win a prize. You could get some ideas here - https://www.parrotstreet.com/blogs/posts/make-world-book-day-potato-characters
Watch out for activities related to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. KS2 will be taking part in Drama activities throughout the day and everyone in school has the opportunity to purchase a 'Monty Wonka Bar' . Maybe you will be the lucky winner of a Golden Ticket. Miss Duddy and Fundraising Friends will be sending more information about that separately.
Finally, Press Bookshop will be visiting school and all the children will be visiting with their World Book Day Token.
Watch out for other information regarding World Book Day and Read Your Way next week.
