Back to School Illness Advice

As pupils return to school, may we remind you that winter illnesses such as covid, flu and scarlet fever continue to circulate. In order to minimise the spread of illness in our setting and protect our children please follow the steps below:

• If our child is unwell and has a HIGH TEMPERATURE, they should stay at home until the fever has resolved.

• Help children to learn about the importance of good hand hygiene, and catching coughs and sneezes in tissues then binning them to stop illness from spreading.

• Remember that flu vaccination is still available for young children. Getting your child vaccinated protects them and others they come into contact with.

REMEMBER: Your child can come to school with minor coughs and colds as long as they do not have a temperature. For other ailments such as sore throat/tonsillitis treatment should be sought and then children should return to school.

DO NOT KEEP YOUR CHILD AWAY FROM SCHOOL ‘JUST IN CASE’ WHEN THEY COULD BE LEARNING. IF THEY FEEL POORLY BUT IMPROVE AT HOME DURING THE DAY, BRING THEM IN AT ANY TIME—BETTER LATER THAN NEVER!
