Year 3 Owl Pellets Dissection

 

 

 

 

 

 As part of their predator topic, Year 3 have spent some time dissecting owl pellets. Did you know owls can't digest everything they eat, so they regurgitate it as a pellet. We pulled apart the pellets to find the bones among the fur and feathers. Then we identified some of the bones we found. The bones were a lot smaller than we expected, but we found saw amazing jaws still with some good incisors attached! We even found a pelvis of a mouse or vole.
