Famous Author Visits Year 5 (Virtually)!

Year 5 had a virtual visit with the author Maz Evans.  Maz is author of ‘Who Let The Gods Out?’ – a text we use in the classroom – and has written a new book called ‘Oh Maya Gods’. During our author visit, Maz talked to the children about her books, read an excerpt from her new story and explained the importance of reading to the children.  She also discussed the writing process with them.

I think all the children would agree that the visit from Maz was fun, engaging and has inspired them both in their reading and writing.

Here are a few things they said:

 Harry S

I can’t wait to read ‘Oh Maya Gods’ because it is a whole new series about Elliot’s kids.

 Issy H

I think Maz Evans is very funny and told us a lot about being an author!

 Olivia

I can’t wait to read books about all the adventures in her series of books.  When it comes to reading, I always feel like I am in the book.

 Grace

When I read a book I get sucked into it.  It takes me to a different world because it’s really fun. Maz’s books sound adventurous and I love adventures.

 Ava

I think Maz is very creative and when she read the book I liked her expression and her actions.

 Devon

In Maz Evan’s books, I really want to read them because I like reading about ancient times and new things that I haven’t yet learnt.

 Lybbie

I can‘t wait to read some of her new books because they might have words that I haven’t learnt yet – there are tonnes of books I’ve read that had words I didn’t know so I learn more.
