Year 6 Visit to Museum of Cannock Chase
All in all, Year 6 had a great day and found out lots about World War II in Britain.
We found out about rationing and dig for victory. Can you believe one of the meals that was eaten during rationing was squirrel tail soup! You could ask about some of the ways they tried to create 'mock' or fake versions of food which was difficult to get hold of.
To find out about evacuation, pupils were divided into groups and each given a scenrio to act out. The role plays were shared in a specific order to show what would happen to an evacuee from the moment they were told of the their evacuation up to what they were living with another family.
We also found out about air raids and how civilians tried to protect themselves during these. The simulation of the air raid made us think how terrifying it would have been to experience this in real life - and we were not completely in the dark!
