Welcome To Year 6!

It is with great pleasure that we welcome you to Year Six, an exciting and fun place to be with many interesting lessons, trips and opportunities!
We aim to provide a stimulating and caring environment where all our children feel happy and secure. We provide children with a wide range of balanced learning opportunities and aim to help each child develop flexibility of mind, adaptability of skills and understanding to become a confident and independent learner.  We respect, learn and achieve.

Pupils receive homework every week for English and Maths.  The children receive their task every Wednesday and it must be completed and returned to school by the following Monday. This may be work to complete on the computer using Bug Club, I am Learning, RMEasimaths or written pieces of work and is planned to enhance what they have been learning in school or revisit prior learning.  These programs are also available to the children at any time of the day/week if they wish to do extra.

In addition to reading lessons in school, all pupils have a reading book to take home.  The children are expected to read at least three times a week and to record any reading in their diaries.  Parents are encouraged to discuss their child’s reading with them and sign their diary at the end of the week.  Diaries are collected in every Monday and House points awarded to those children who have read and have a signed diary.
